When kids participate in a youth triathlon, amazing things happen. The presently uncoordinated or those with unseen physical potential can gain inner strength and realize that obstacles may be overcome if they only have the opportunity to attain them. Children can seize the day, excel, and set a mark for peers to pursue. Children with behavior disorders or those with boundless energy are afforded an outlet and focus. Sometimes kids just need an opportunity to participate and be a part of something bigger than themselves and play in a large social setting. Life is only enhanced by regular activity, and youth is the best time to establish good, positive activity habits.
The Thunderbolt Youth Triathlon will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2016. It will be a fantastic opportunity for kids and their parents to be involved in the growing international sport of triathlon. Triathlon is a home grown sport which originated in the United States in the early 80’s. This triathlon is for ages 5-16 and will take place at Veterans Memorial Park, starting at the Cove and finishing in the grass just past the playground.
Proceeds will also be directed to the Buena Mountain Bike Club and the Sierra Vista Tsunami Swim Team. Youth programs can and should be an integral part of a healthy community. The Sierra Vista Tsunami Swim Team andBuena Mountain Bike Club are two groups that promote activity and health for a wide range of youths in Sierra Vista. Our community can be proud of the achievements of these youth organizations.
